1996-2004
Founded in 1996, with $500 and a credit card, Red Barn Computers started with humble origins in a 1000 sq/ft facility. By 1999, the company had grown and relocated to a bigger facility, and in 2000, began servicing major universities delivering hardware for computational sciences. In 2003, a second branch was launched, followed by the "official" establishment of Red Barn HPC and the acquisition of Hackerthreads in 2004.
2005-2010
In 2005, Red Barn consolidated its two smaller locations to a larger location in the Town of Chenango. By 2007, Hackerthreads became part of this site. By 2008 Red Barn was one of the largest retailer of Asus notebooks on the East Coast. Additionally, Red Barn Technology Group launched Vital IT, a Managed Services Provider, and built the largest heterogeneous supercomputer for the U.S. Air Force Research Lab.
2011- current
In the wake of the catastrophic flood in 2011, Red Barn demonstrated resilience by not only rebuilding, but also planning to acquire a new facility to support their future expansion. By 2013, they successfully purchased their current property, an over 17,000 sq/ft concrete building located at 37 Pine Street in Binghamton, NY. Extensive renovations and upgrades were completed by 2014 and Red Barn Tech Group, found its forever home. While intending to let retail die peacefully, our loyal following kept finding us, which prompted us to become CPR franchise. 'Hackerthreads' was rebranded as 'Red Barn Creative Team' but then in 2020 and 2022, acquisitions of Muckles Ink and Ithaca T-shirt Express further expanded our capabilities. On any day at our Pine Street location, you will find us building supercomputers, servicing IT, web and Phone customers on our main floor as well as printing apparel and making tons of cool stuff on our ground floor! It is an exciting place.
